Karachi shipyard: Two small ships handed over to Navy

Vessels will be used by Pakistan Navy for logistic support to coastal stations.

KARACHI:
The Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works (KSEW) on Monday handed over two small tankers-cum-utility ships to Pakistan Navy.

The ships, built at the KSEW, are 47-m long with 1,600 tons displacement. The ships are equipped with steerable rudder propellers along with bow thrusters for controlled positioning, navigation and communication.


The vessels will also be used by Pakistan Navy for logistic support to coastal stations, assistance of PN fleet for marine operations at sea such as torpedo recovery, mine laying, search and rescue activities.

Addressing on the occasion, Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Abbas Raza assured that the Navy will continue to support Karachi Shipyard as a strategic industry as  part of its policies of self-reliance.
