SHC takes notice of rape, murder of minor in Larkana
Summons DIG, SSP Larkana on May 7
KARACHI:
Taking notice of the rape and murder of a nine-year-old girl in Larkana, Sindh High Court on Wednesday sought a report from a district and session court.
The court also summoned Deputy Inspector General Larkana Ferozuddin Siddiqui and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Larkana Tanveer Hussain Tunio to appear in person on May 7.
Case history
The minor was killed and dumped in a sewage drain after allegedly being raped in Larkana district. The body of S*, who went missing on April 24, was found in the pond near Tayyab Hotel along Dodai Road a day later.
The police have arrested at least six suspects. On the other hand, the victim’s parents claim police to be aiding the accused. “Police are trying to protect rapists and murderers because the police were trying to save them,” the minor’s father told media last week. The body was moved to Chandka Medical Hospital but the post-mortem took around six hours as the concerned doctors were not available, alleged the victim's father.
Speaking to media, he said S* left home in Ayub Colony area on the night of April 24 to buy a confectionery item but did not return. “We searched for her in the neighbourhood and houses of relatives for hours but could not find her.”
After the minor girl went missing, the parents had lodged a complaint with the Haideri police station. Blaming the police for delay in investigation, the father said S* may have been alive if the police had immediately begun a search.
