Ajoka theatre founder Madeeha Gohar passes away



Founder of Lahore’s renowned theatre Ajoka, Madeeha Gohar passed away after battling with cancer for the past three years. The artist was awarded the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz by the government of Pakistan in 2003 and the Fatima Jinnah Award in 2014 for her remarkable services. The government of Netherlands also recognised Madeeha’s contributions to theatre and rewarded her with the Prince Clause Award in 2006.

Amir Khan and Faryal Makhdoom blessed with second child



Boxer Amir Khan and wife Faryal Makhdoom were blessed with a baby girl after recovering from their relationship woes. The couple have named their girl Alayna Khan and Amir Khan posted a picture of the adorable baby on his Instagram. Khan has returned to the boxing arena and will soon be seen competing in boxing tournaments. We wish the family all the luck and happiness!

Ali Zafar reportedly being replaced by Strings on ‘Pepsi BOTB’




Ali Zafar was expected to be the new judge of Pepsi Battle of the Bands alongside Meesha Shafi and Fawad Khan, until Meesha accused the singer of sexual harassment. The show makers have reportedly decided to replace their first choice; Ali Zafar, post the sexual allegations made by Shafi. Fawad and Meesha are still on board, however the third judge for ‘BOTB’; Atif Aslam will not be returning for the latest season of the show. With a spot vacant for a new judge, rumour has it Strings duo Faisal Kapadia and Bilal Maqsood have been approached and might be joining in his place!

Sana Mir slams beauty brands for setting unrealistic beauty standards



Former Pakistan women’s cricket team, Sana Mir recently voiced her thoughts on unrealistic beauty standards being set by advertising companies. In a Facebook post, Mir mentioned how young girls who aspire to launch themselves into sports are being brainwashed by companies that aim to give them “beautiful” skin. Mir questioned why a girl’s talent and skill is not enough to make her capable of being on the field. She further added that there have been many sports icons around the world who have excelled in their careers because of their passion and skills, and not because of the colour of their skin or how smooth their skin is. Way to go girl!

MAMA MIA! ABBA to reunite after 35 long years!



Sweden’s legendary disco group ABBA announced that they have reunited to record two new songs 35 years after their last single, sparking joy and surprise among fans. “We all felt that, after 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did,” the group said in a statement after repeatedly vowing that they would never reunite. The group, who sold more than 400 million albums, have not sung together publicly since 1986. ABBA fans, get excited!

Production house of ‘Parwaaz Hai Junoon’ in legal trouble before release



Production house of the upcoming movie Parwaaz Hai Junoon is in legal trouble before the release of the movie. The wardrobe stylist of the movie filed a case against the production banner, MD Productions. Soomar Rehman, who has styled the cast for the upcoming film, stated that the vice president of MD Films, Osman Gillani has failed to mention his name as wardrobe stylist in the credits of the film teasers that have been released over the past few weeks. On the other hand, the cast of the movie including Hania Amir have credited the stylist.
