IIUI holds workshop on electronics, solar energy research in Pakistan

Experts give future outlook of research in photovoltaic engineering

International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Centre for Advanced Electronics and Photovoltaic Engineering (CAEPE) organised an interactive session on ‘Innovation and technology development in electronics and energy research’ at its central library.

The event was attended by Planning Commission of Pakistan Member Science Dr Athar Osama, Peking University’s Prof Hong Meng, IIUI Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai, IIUI Vice President Dr Aqdas Naveed Malik, CAEPE Executive Director Prof Ahmed Shuja Syed, IIUI faculty members and experts

IIUI rector hailed the activity and said that the CAEPE at IIUI is omen of contemporary approach of university as interdisciplinary research was the future of education and progress. He told that IIUI centers were promoting to mingle the various research disciplines which would ultimately result in best achievements.

In the ceremony, Prof Syed apprised the audience about the objectives of the workshop and briefed about the centre.

He said that CAEPE aimed to create knowledge and develop the cross-disciplinary market-driven research focused on the application of advanced electronics and photovoltaic engineering via processes, components and systems. Furthermore, he explained that that the overall objective of the Centre is to establish a sustainable source of research training for developing qualified manpower with a focus on future requirements, and facility access services in these fields that are applied to the national needs.

He added that the centre was equipped with ISO-class 1—clean room, electronic device design suite, access to commercial FABs, open access model, over 135 projects.
