‘The youth must stick to books if we are to progress’
Speakers say youth must fight an ideological war to bring in positive change
The University of Karachi’s (KU) vice-chancellor, Prof Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan, has said that we need to express our solidarity with the nation and motherland.
We all need to play a role in the eradication of poverty from our society, he said, adding that actions will speak louder than words. Our youth has to fight an ideological war in order to bring about a positive change in society, said Dr Khan at a one-day conference titled ‘Paigham-e-Pakistan aur Humara Naujawan’ at the varsity.
Speaker discusses components of effective communication
“The younger generation is an asset to any nation and the future of a nation is secure if its youth are educated. Pakistani youth are brave and talented but need guidance and motivation,” he told participants of the conference. “They must stick to pens and books, this is the only way we can progress,” he advised.
KU Faculty of Social Sciences Dean Prof Dr Muhammad Ahmed Qadri said that it is our national duty to spread the ideology of Pakistan. We need to align with the ideology of Pakistan in order to eradicate issues of terrorism and extremism, he said. Our youth are united against terrorism and enemies will not be able to break them, he added.
‘Youth our hope for a brighter future’
Dr Qadri also announced the formation of a Paigham Pakistan forum where similar programmes will be organised in every varsity of the country, aiming to bring about an educational and ideological revolution with the help of our youth.
Islamic Educational and Cultural Research Centre USA Director Sadaf Akbani said, “Our armed forces are protecting us on our borders and are ready to face any challenge in order to protect our motherland”.
Mufti Ahmed Afnan said the Objective Resolution was the first resolution of Pakistan. Long live Pakistan must be our slogan, he told participants. Pakistan is facing both internal and external threats - we have eradicated the external threat to a great extent, but we have to save the country from internal threats, he said.
According to Dr Saeed Ahmed Saeedi, we need to become and think like an ummat if we want to save Pakistan. Everyone must play their part in the development of the country, he added.
Prof Dr Sobia Shahzad from the varsity’s sociology department said that Pakistan’s future is in the hands of our youth.
