Use of moringa can help in weight loss, diabetes, blood pressure and other health complications

Due to the benefits of moringa, the Punjab government is trying to promote its cultivation, said Punjab Floriculture Director Sheikh Javed Iqbal on Monday. The benefits of the plant include slowing down the ageing process. Further, the use of moringa can help in weight loss, diabetes, blood pressure and other health complications on the advice of health practitioners, he added. The benefits also extend to animals; it helps increase milk production and improves the health of cattle, he elaborated. We are providing growers assistance to increase cultivation of this plant as it has several medicinal and nutritional uses. Farmers can increase their earnings by cultivating this plant. The director said that modern research had proved the benefits of the plant and it can be consumed as a vegetable, food supplement, green tea, cosmetics, medicines and fodder. By promoting the cultivation of moringa we can promote the livestock sector, he maintained.
