Punjab University has produced the first PhD in public health which is a landmark achievement for the varsity, stated a press release issued on Sunday.
Dr Javeria Saleem, who was enrolled in a post graduate programmed at the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies, anaged to successfully defend her dissertation.
Her work focused on “High-dose Vitamin D3 in the Treatment of Severe Acute Malnutrition: a Multi-Centre Double-Blind Randomised Controlled Trial”.
Her paper has also been published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. In a statement, Dr Rubina Zakar said the public health sector was largely ignored in Pakistan.
