Three-day event: Youth cultural mela concludes
Director Shahera Shahid said that the mela was aimed at promoting traditional skills

A three-day “Youth Cultural Mela”, organised by the National Institute of Folk and Traditional Heritage (Lok Virsa) in collaboration with the provincial cultural departments, concluded in the capital on Sunday. Addressing the concluding ceremony, Lok Virsa Executive Director Shahera Shahid said that the mela was aimed at promoting traditional skills, inculcating awareness amongst the younger generation about the indigenous folk heritage of Pakistan and above all, to create a spirit of peace and unity, strengthen and re-enforce national harmony and integration through a cultural perspective. She said that it’s main features was the congregation of youth, artisans-at-work, live folk musical and dance performances by young folk artists, musicians and folk dancers, craft bazaar, the traditional cuisine of all provinces.
