Rising temperatures have led to an increase in demand for chilled drinks.
The traditional buttermilk drink, 'lassi', has been thus seeing its sales go through the roof with stores running out of stocks for the traditional yogurt-based drink by midafternoon.
The drink is a traditional favourite in the subcontinent which is made by blending yogurt with water and milk.
A report aired by a private news channel said that lassi is probably one of the most popular and loved cold beverages during the hot summers.
While available in salty and the sweet varieties, may say the latter was developed in the urban areas.
"Salted lassi is a traditional Punjabi drink but it is popular across the country. There are many flavours of the drink in Punjab including paira lassi, barfi lassi and now fruit-flavored lassi as people have started adding mangoes and strawberries to the drink," said the owner of a milk and lassi shop.
