Man gets death sentence in double murder case

Judge handed down death sentence to Akram along with a fine of Rs1 million

KHANEWAL: A sessions court awarded death sentence on two counts to an accused for his involvement in a double murder case in Khanewal. The judgment was announced by Additional District and Sessions Judge Muhammad Iqbal Haral.

The prosecution told the court that accused Muhammad Akram and his sons Wasim and Jaffer, had gunned down his brother Tanvir and niece Fauzia over a property dispute. The local police registered a case against the accused and presented the challan before the court.

After hearing the arguments, the judge handed down death sentence to Akram along with a fine of Rs1 million which would be paid to the legal heirs of the deceased. However, the court acquitted the other co-accused giving them the benefit of doubt.

Earlier, a court awarded death sentence to a convict for his involvement in a murder case in Sargodha. Additional District and Sessions Judge Irfan Ahmed Shaikh announced the verdict.
