LAHORE: Two suspects, allegedly involved in a suicide blast at Urdu Bazar chowk on January 25 in Lahore, were arrested by intelligence officials on Monday.

The suspects, Qari Mustafa and a man known as Commander, were charged with providing arms and ammunition to the man who blew himself up near a police checkpost.

Sources said that the suspects were linked with militants in Waziristan and were working for a banned organisation.

The blast, which killed at least 13 people and wounded more than 70 others, occurred midway between the Data Darbar shrine and the location of the chehlum procession for the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA). At Data Darbar, the devotees were marking Hazrat Ali Hajveri’s 967th urs.
