Karachi Company raids: Nine eateries fined for poor hygiene

Fines amounting Rs38,000 on nine hotels and restaurants are imposed

ISLAMABAD: District authorities have penalised at least nine eateries located in Karachi Company for poor hygiene standards. The food outlets challaned in Karachi Company during inspections include Siddique Murgh Pullao, Karachi Biryani, Tayab Pullao, B4U Restaurant, and Aab-e-Shifa water filtration plant. Overall the ICT food and health teams carried out 215 inspections of food outlets and imposed fines amounting Rs38,000 on nine hotels and restaurants for poor sanitary conditions and using broken and dirty utensils. The district administration has directed the food outlets to ensure compliance of food laws failing which stern action would be taken against the violators. The food department teams also carried out price checking in Karachi Company and imposes fines amounting Rs35,000 on the profiteers for over charging the food items including fruits and vegetables and not displaying the rate list of food items.
