MUZZAFFARABAD:
The eight people who got killed in a road accident near Muzaffarabad a few days back were laid to rest on Wednesday in their native villages Kalas and Seri Darra in the presence of hundreds of mourners.

The victims were travelling in a jeep which skidded off the road and fell down the rocky gorge 3000 feet below. None of the passengers survived to tell the cause of the accident.

Two of the victims were the employees of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) University, identified as Chaudhry Muhammad Javed and Chaudhry Naveed Ahmed. The university remained closed for half day to mourn the deaths.


Other who died in the accident included Qasim son of Bashir, Ghulam Hussain son of Bashir, Javed son of Imam Din, Bashir son of Saeen, Muhammad Sadiq son of Muhammad Din, Aslam son of Noor and Nargis Bibi daughter of Imam Din.

The funeral prayers were also attended by Legislative Assembly member Chaudhry Shahzad Mahmood, former AJK minister Syed Bazal Ali Naqvi and a large number of employees and students of the AJK University.

AJK University’s acting Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Qayyum, Registrar Prof Dr Ghulam Murtaza, Controller Examination Dr Haroon-ur-Rashid and Director Finance Syed Sabir Hussain expressed grief over the tragic accident and prayed for the departed souls to rest in peace.
