Week-long sports gala concludes at NUML

Students from 20 departments of university participated in event

MULTAN: A week-long sports gala concluded at the National University of Modern Languages (NUML) on Saturday.

Special attention has been paid to student’s extra-curricular activities, said chief guest for the event Regional Director Brigadier (retd) Syed Nadeemul Hassan Tirmizi. The continuous increase in the student body is the result of having such activities held regularly, he emphasised.

Sports aid us in building a healthy society, he added. He urged students to spend less time on social media and other mindless activities for the sake of our physical and mental health.

He advised students to participate in extra-curricular ctivities as they uplift one’s energy and confidence levels.

NUML Executive Club Patron in Chief Sabah Younis appreciated the member’s efforts in organising the event.

“The students possess excellent academic knowledge. However, it is important for us to encourage them to showcase their talents in sports and other extra-curricular activities. We aim to provide students with a platform for them to polish their skills,” she stated.



Executive Club President Muhammad Imran said that every year, the gala was organised to rejuvenate students.

“Sports instils team spirit in young adolescents and prepares them for professional life,” he expressed. Students from as many as 20 departments from the varsity’s various sub-campuses participated in the event with enthusiasm.

NUML’s campus was specially decorated for the occasion; the building was decked out with buntings, balloons, posters and colourful banners bearing messages regarding the importance of sports.

Various games had been organised as part of the event such as badminton, table tennis, tug of war, volleyball and football. Some of the women students had also set up henna stalls, competing with each other to be declared the winner. In addition to this, there was also a poetry session and a song competition; students sang national songs and danced to the beat of percussion instruments. They also presented a tableau and set up stalls to promote local culture.
