QUETTA: In a major development, Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo’s tireless efforts to raise the education standard bore fruit as the American Lycetuff chairperson agreed to impart capacity building training to the teachers of the province.

“Balochistan lags behind other provinces in education as the education sector of the province did not flourish due to numerous challenges it faced in the past,” said Bizenjo while talking to American Lycetuff Chairperson Madam Zeeshan Zia Raja, who called on him, on Friday.

Provincial Minister Sarfraz Domki and Balochistan Chief Secretary Aurangzeb Haq were also present on the occasion.

Madam Raja briefed the chief minister about her institution and discussed the state of education in Balochistan.

The chief minister said that the education sector of the province had suffered badly in the past as in the 70s teachers from other provinces were forcibly sent back.

“We faced another insurgency in 2002 that also badly affected the education and health sectors,” he said, adding that the situation had improved to a great extent during the past couple of years and “we are doing our best to bring improvement in the education sector”.

The Balochistan chief minister said the government increased the budget of health and education sectors despite the fact that the province was in a state of war and had limited resources.

“It is also the duty of teachers to play their role in imparting quality education and ensure their presence in schools,” he said, adding that teachers should avoid taking part in union activities and perform their duties with utmost dedication as teaching “is a very noble profession”.

CM Bizenjo said that the teachers should not hesitate in discharging their duties in rural areas, adding that the government was providing teachers all incentives in order for them to perform their duties boldly. “The government is taking steps to ensure availability of teachers throughout the province and cooperation of teachers is very essential in this regard,” he added.

Bizenjo said that without improving the education sector the province could not make any progress.

The American Lycetuff chairperson appreciated the efforts of the provincial government for improvement in the education sector and assured the chief minister of imparting capacity building training to the teachers of Balochistan.
