CTD sub-inspector martyred in Quetta targeted attack

A senior officer from the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) was killed in a targeted attack by unidentified armed assailants in the provincial capital of Balochistan on Sunday.

Sub-Inspector Metha Khan, a veteran and dedicated law enforcement official, was shot dead near the Jinnah Town Police Station in the Killi Ismail area. According to police sources, unidentified gunmen opened fire on the officer outside the police station premises, fatally wounding him. He succumbed to his injuries shortly after.

The incident occurred in a high-security zone, highlighting the persistent threats faced by personnel combating terrorism in the province. Immediately following the attack, a heavy contingent of police arrived at the scene, cordoned off the area, launched a search operation, and began collecting evidence.

The Balochistan government expressed profound grief over the tragic loss. Minister for Political and Media Affairs to the Chief Minister, Shahid Rind, issued a statement condemning the cowardly assault. He described Sub-Inspector Metha Khan as a brave and duty-bound officer who had rendered outstanding services in maintaining peace and security across Balochistan.
