LAHORE: Punjab Nursing Director General Kausar Parveen has said that those who perform well should be appreciated in order to meet challenges and achieve goals.

She said this while addressing a function to distribute certificates among the nurses on Thursday. The event was held at Neuro Unit 2 of Lahore General Hospital where at least 17 nurses were awarded certificates on their performance. Neurosurgery Professor Dr Khalid Mahmud and others were also present.

Kausar Parveen lauded the efforts of Prof Khalid Mahmud on introducing new techniques in Neurosurgery. She added, “Our doctors are fully equipped to meet challenges and bring innovations in medicine.”

She said that apart from appreciation, strict discipline was also of utmost importance. An inquiry had been initiated against those nurses who were found using mobile phones while on duty.

She maintained that the present government had laid special emphasis on equipping nurses with modern education and training.

She pointed out that the fourth batche of nurses had been sent to Turkey for training so that they could train other nurses as well.

These steps will help us to extend better medical facilities to the patients, she said.

Kausar Parveen was of the view that nurses, who completed specialisation, should be posted in wards or action would be initiated against the nursing superintendents.

She said that for the first time in Punjab nurses had been appointed through the Punjab Public Service Commission. She observed, “Our nurses have the full potential and tendency to meet any emergency situation. We will continue to appreciate their work.”
