Lyari Gang war: Two ‘criminals’ killed in Rangers operation

Four people, including two Rangers’ personnel, were injured during the operation.

Two alleged criminals were killed in an encounter between Lyari gangsters and the Rangers near Aath Chowk area of Lyari town. Four others, including two Rangers’ personnel, were also injured.


According to the Kalakot police station and the Rangers, the two men allegedly belonged to the Baba Ladla group of Lyari. One of the dead was identified as Ismail, son of Ishaq, while the other was unidentified.

“Inspector Shafiq and Raza of the Rangers and two passerbys, Javed and Aslam, received bullet injuries,” a police official said.


The bodies and the injured were shifted to Civil hospital and Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

Rangers’ sources claimed that they also arrested 13 accused during the encounter.

Tension gripped various parts of Lyari after the incident as unidentified men resorted to aerial firing, forcing markets and shops to close down.
