Rahim Yar Khan: Industrial estates established

Businessmen and investors urged to take advantage of the facilities provided by the government.

LAHORE:

The Punjab Industrial Estates Development and Management Company (PIEDMC) has established Rahim Yar Khan Industrial Estates in a bid to accelerate economic and trade activities in the province.

Speaking at the event, PIEDMC Chairman SM Tanveer said that over 1,000 large and medium-sized industrial units employing over 250,000 workers were operating under the company’s umbrella all over the province.

Chief Minister’s Special Initiatives Entity Chairman Haroon Khawaja said that the new industrial estate could play an active role in accelerating industrial and trade activities as Punjab was contributing well over 60 per cent to the country’s gross domestic product. “In Punjab, more than 48,000 small and big industrial units are operating,” he added.

He urged the businessmen and investors to take advantage of the facilities provided by the government in the fields of livestock, coal and engineering, and hoped that the businessmen and government would work together to expedite programmes for the betterment of people, creating employment and eliminating poverty.
