LHC summons DG NAB over 'illegal detention'
Petitioner challenges his detention by NAB
LAHORE:
The Lahore High Court on Tuesday summoned director-general national accountability bureau (NAB).
The court began hearing of a petition filed by Barrister Yahyah Cheema on behalf of his client Zahid – who is allegedly under ‘illegal’ custody. The petition inquires the reasons behind Zahid’s detention by the accountability watchdog.
After hearing arguments from the prosecution and defence counsel, Justice Qasim Khan remained unsatisfied and summoned DG NAB to appear before the court tomorrow (April 18).

Last month, Chairman NAB Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal rejected as false an impression created by some elements that the bureau is hindering national development.
Speaking in Lahore, the chairman said, “corruption is eating away the country, NAB is a friendly institution that just wants to rid the country of corruption. We are ready to cooperate with any person who is ready to serve honestly and work without corruption.”
