LAHORE: A legislator of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) strongly condemned the two separate attacks on Justice Ijazul Ahsan in Model Town by unidentified assailants on Sunday. PTI legislator Sadia Sohail Rana submitted a resolution in the Punjab Assembly, condemning this unpleasant incident. She demanded a secure atmosphere to state institutions for their affective role in society. She said it was the responsibility of all stakeholders to provide them a secure atmosphere. The lawmaker said the arrest of assailants was actually a challenge for the Safe City Programme launched by Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif. She said it is astonishing that the incident took place in the presence of policemen. She also demanded the government provide foolproof security to judges. “The suspects involved in the incident should be arrested immediately.” Unidentified assailants fired gunshots at the house of Justice Ijazul Ahsan in Model Town in two separate attacks on Sunday. No one was injured in the attack on the house of the apex court judge, who was part of the bench that heard Panama Papers case against former prime minister Mian Nawaz Sharif, which led to his disqualification from holding elected office.
