Russian ambassador to Washington Anatoly Antonov on Saturday lashed out at the strikes in Syria by saying that "such actions will not be left without consequences" adding that "all responsibility rests on Washington, London and Paris now".

A pre-designed scenario is being implemented. Again we are being threatened," a statement released by the Russian embassy reads.

"Our worst apprehensions have come true. Our warnings have been left unheard", it further reads.

"Insulting the Russian president is unacceptable and inadmissible. The US is the possessor of the biggest arsenal of chemical weapons and has no moral right to blame other countries," it goes on to say.
