He said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan lied during public gatherings in Punjab and a liar could not serve the country. “Whenever courts summoned him to prove his allegations, he always sought refuge and searched for witnesses to prove his false accusations,” he said of Khan.
Shehbaz said he expected everything to change since Khan chanted the slogan of change. He added that the moment he came outside the Bacha Khan International Airport, he saw trenches and drains on the main roads causing immense problems for the general public due to Buss Rapid Transit (BRT) construction.
“If we form our government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), we will complete this project in five months and I will myself monitor the project. In view his (Khan’s) tall claims, things should have changed,” he said while addressing a workers convention in the Peshawar
“People from Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa have been seeking medical assistance in Punjab,” he said.
Shehbaz said the PML-N rooted out militancy from the country and the terror activities had sharply dropped.
He said that the Army Public School (APS) children sacrificed their lives and “I can see the day, and very soon, there will be no militancy in the country”.
The Punjab CM said he remembered Khan claiming that K-P would generate enough electricity that it would not only meet its own requirements, but export it as well. But not even a single megawatt of power could be generated in more than four years, he added.
Khan’s promises were like the Qissa Khwani bazaar tales, he quipped.
Shehbaz said the PML-N government generated over 3500 megawatts of electricity and would soon reach the 5000MW figure.
Imran promises ‘K-P-like revolution’ across the country
“If we get manage to form government in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, we will bring Peshawar on a par with Lahore and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa on a par with Punjab,” he said, adding, “Had the motorway not been built, you would have found traffic jams on GT road.”
He also claimed that the PML-N government in Punjab managed to stop patients with kidney and liver problems from seeking treatment in India and China, adding that a state-of-the-art transplantation facility was under construction in Punjab.
The PML-N president alleged that funds were embezzled in the Billion Tree Tsunami project but the K-P Ehtesab Commission could not take action due to political pressure. It was due to this reason that several employees of the commission resigned, he said.
Speaking on the occasion, PML-N’s K-P President Amir Muqam said that the Punjab CM made more than 90% contribution for the relief of flood victims as well as those displaced from Swat during the military operation against militants in the valley. He said it was Shehbaz who extended support to people when Swat and Peshawar were hit by dengue fever.
Muqam alleged that under the PTI government, the province suffered from huge debts.
Earlier, at Muqam’s residence in Peshawar, PML-N leader and member National Assembly Zaeem Qadri said the newly-elected president of the PML-N would also visit Balochistan, Sindh and Gilgit-Baltistan, adding that the party was currently focusing on K-P.
