Since turn of year: Rural Zone police arrests 638 suspects
Also recovers looted items and cars worth over Rs39 million
ISLAMABAD:
The Islamabad Rural Zone Police has arrested 638 outlaws in the past two and half months and recovered looted items and cars worth over Rs39 million from them. This was disclosed by SP (Rural Zone) Hassam bin Iqbal in a news conference on Wednesday.
In two months: Rural zone reports over 45 muggings, burglaries
He said that they had tried to curb criminal activities in the area following directions from Inspector General of Police Dr Sultan Azam Temuri and Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Najeeb ur Rehman Bugvi. He said that they were working on implementing community policing in the Rural Zone following the vision of the IGP to reduce the gap between police and the public. Apart from arresting the suspects, he said that they had solved 39 cases of dacoities and theft. SP Iqbal added that they had recovered looted valuables worth Rs39.17 million from the 638 alleged criminals they had apprehended.
In addition to solving the theft cases, they had also solved three murder cases during this period while 102 proclaimed offenders were nabbed.
