‘Shortage’ of medicines: Minister orders probe

Punjab Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique says an inquiry was being conducted on the issue of the shortage of medicines

Punjab Minister for Specialised Healthcare and Medical Education Khawaja Salman Rafique has said an inquiry was being conducted on the issue of the shortage of medicines in Nishtar Hospital and the people responsible for the shortage would be taken to the task.

He stated this while presiding over a meeting of the syndicate of Nishtar Medical University Multan.  He said the elements involved to bring a bad name to the efforts of the government would not be tolerated. Rafique directed the authorities concerned that availability of medicines should be ensured and procurement system of the medicines should also be made more effective. Rafique expressed his displeasure over the mismanagement of the hospital administration and observed that despite all measures by the government, the hospital administration has shown negligence in providing medicines to the patients.


The minister claimed that the Punjab government was providing quality healthcare services in hospitals moreover, free medicines were being provided to the patients.
