Football: Terry tells Chelsea to spend cash

Chelsea captain John Terry has said the Blues must spend again on new players during the close season.

LONDON:
Chelsea captain John Terry has said the Blues must spend again on new players during the close season if they are to challenge Manchester United for the title next year.

Chelsea, bankrolled by Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, spent £50m signing striker Fernando Torres from Liverpool and £25m on centre-back David Luiz during the January transfer window.

“I always think we should strengthen all over the pitch [in the summer],” said England skipper Terry.

“I look back when Jose Mourinho was here we had a very big squad and great players who could come in, but then that brings financial problems to the club and players become unhappy.”
