'Gandhi: The Conspiracy' to be Om Puri's last film
The film has been directed by Algerian film-maker
If you thought you saw the last of Om Puri in Tubelight, you were mistaken. The late actor has an international film that is yet to release, reported Filmfare.
Puri has served in Bollywood for several decades. The late actor also has some Hollywood films inhis kitty such as Wolf and The Ghost of Darkness. He was also a part of Pakistan's Actor In Law, opposite Fahad Mustafa and Mehwish Hayat.
Puri will be now seen in the upcoming film Gandhi: The Conspiracy. Directed by Algerian film-maker Karim Traidia, he will be essaying an interesting character in producer Lakshmi R Iyer's historical drama.
On working with the iconic actor, Iyer shared, "Om sir was an actor par excellence and a great human being. Being an old-school actor, he read the script, liked the subject and agreed to be part of it in just two days. It was a blessing to work with him and a great learning experience."
Although there have been numerous films on Mahatma Gandhi, Iyer believes her production will unveil lesser known details. She explained, "I love Gandhi ji’s ideology of non-violence. The simple story that a fanatic came and shot Gandhi doesn’t hold water. You have to dig deeper and understand the dynamics at play."
The producer also promised that the film will be a racy, action-packed account of the historical events that led to the assassination of Gandhi.
Puri passed away in early 2016. The actor's upcoming international film is slated to release later this year.
