QUETTA:
The only X-ray machine in the trauma centre of the government’s Civil Hospital, Quetta has been out of service for the last many days compelling patients to opt for private clinics.
Despite Balochistan Chief Minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo’s surprise visit to civil hospital’s trauma centre a few days back, the X-ray machine has yet to be made functional.
During the CM’s visit to the government hospital, patients and their attendants complained about the lack of facilities, including the out of order X-ray machine on which Bizenjo expressed resentment over the negligence of hospital staff.
CM orders inspection of ongoing construction and repair of roads
Patients in the province, particularly those visiting the hospital in Quetta from remote parts of Balochistan, have been facing immense hardships for the past many years. They have been complaining about the lack of healthcare facilities in the oldest major government-run hospital.
All Pakistan Paramedical Association, Young Doctors Association and other medical associations have set a trend of strikes to pressure the provincial government into meeting their demands.
Due to consecutive strikes, protest and boycott of outdoor patient departments, poor patients are facing a chaos-like situation.

During his visit to the civil hospital, the chief minister had urged the protesting doctors to call off their strike on humanitarian grounds. He had directed the health authorities to provide complete and proper health care facilities to the people.
Not abiding by the CM’s instructions, the hospital authorities have not yet had the X-ray machine fixed, which is out of service for the past many days, forcing poor patients to avail expensive X-ray services from private clinics.
