SARGODHA:
We will employ a strict policy while distributing gunny bags to farmers, said Deputy Commissioner Liaqat Ali Chattah on Saturday while presiding over a meeting.
The meeting was regarding wheat purchasing and the arrangements made for the distribution of gunny bags by the food department and assistant commissioners.
Chattah directed officers to implement the policy of ‘pehle aao pehle pao’ (first come first served). The DC also directed food authorities to put up a list of ‘girdwari of crop’, adding that gunny bags should be distributed under the supervision of coordinators.
He also warned officials against misusing and mishandling the gunny bags, promising to hold the assistant commissioner responsible in any such case.
The DC also informed officials that the government rate for purchasing wheat was fixed at Rs1,300 per 40kg while eight gunny bags will be distributed for one acre.
He added during the meeting that a focal person, from the DC’s office, will be appointed at wheat purchasing centres.
