LAHORE: Zameer Hussain, a retiring police constable, was a bag of emotions as he left the office for the last time, driving home in a government vehicle which was escorted by a squad car.

This was line with a standard operating procedure (SOP) laid out in February that every retiring police official would get guard of honour and be escorted home with the protocol.

At a tea party, to be held in the honour of the retiring official, all the documents of the personnel would be handed over. Also, to aid the retiring official, the assistant director/accountant pension branch and other departments would be responsible for completion of the documents.

They will also resolve any issues faced during the process at the AG office.

The farewell ceremony for Zameer was held at the office of Deputy Inspector General Operations (DIG) in the honour of a retiring police official on Friday.

DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashraf and SSP Operations Muntazir Mehdi participated in the ceremony. The retiring official was presented a guard of honour on the occasion. He was also bid farewell to his home with protocol. Zameer was overwhelmed with emotions while leaving the DIG Ops office in a government vehicle escorted by a police squad.

Speaking on the occasion, DIG Operations Dr Haider Ashrad said Zameer Hussain had served the department for over 31 years. “During this time, he was never found to be negligent of his duty,” he said. SSP Mehdi said such officials were the pride of the department.
