ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) has shown great concerns over the Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board’s recent approval to allocate the entire I-17 sector for setting up a medical city. This sector was earmarked for the development of an industrial estate in Islamabad and the ICCI has called upon the CDA to restore I-17 as an industrial sector in order to promote industrial activities in the region. ICCI President Sheikh Amir Waheed said that CDA had acquired 5,000 kanals of land in I-17 for the development of industrial estate and had paid around Rs7 billion for its acquisition, while 3,000 more kanals remain to be acquired in the Noon Village for this project. He said the business community of the federal capital was looking towards the CDA to announce the development of new industrial estate in I-17, but the recent decision has dashed all their hopes.
