Unhygienic conditions: RCB issues notices to 25 food outlets

RCB team under anti-encroachment operation also confiscates two truckload goods from Saddar, Tench and Peoples Colony

The Food Branch of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) Thursday issued notices to 25 food outlets for unhygienic and poor cleanliness conditions while 45 food samples were collected from different restaurants, hotels and other fast food points in Saddar Bazar, Peoples Colony and other areas. According to RCB Spokesman Qaiser Mahmood, the food samples collected from different points had been sent to lab for quality test while fines amounting to over Rs 79 were also imposed on violators of rules. Bismillah Restaurant, Bank Road Saddar was sealed over poor cleanliness condition with fine of Rs 15,000. The cases of sub-standard food items were sent to the court of Cantonment Magistrate which imposed fines on the rules violators. He said on the directive of Cantonment Executive Officer Sabtain Raza, the team conducted surprise visits of different markets and inspected cleanliness condition with quality of food items. Raids on the food outlets would continue, he said, adding that the teams were directed to also check the health of the workers serving at the food outlets. To a question, he said the RCB team under anti-encroachment operation also confiscated two truckload goods from Saddar, Tench and Peoples Colony. Posters and banners were also removed from different cantt areas, he added.
