The appointments were made against vacant positions in government-run colleges, which were functioning without heads. The HED had issued notifications for the newly appointed principals. The notification read: “On the recommendations of divisional level selection committee constituted, the competent authority has been pleased to post following officers as principals at the colleges as mentioned against their names.”
The appointments were made to colleges which had less than 500 students and were running without a principal. Earlier in March, the department invited applications for the vacant positions and interviews were held on March 2, 3, 9 and 10 in their respective divisions. Interviews were held and subsequently, on the recommendations of the committee formed, division-wise orders were issued for the positions of principals.
Earlier, the department had formed a three-member committee to shortlist the candidates for the posts of principals in colleges comprising of a representative of HED, Director of Education (Colleges) concerned and concerned Deputy Director (Colleges).
