LAHORE:
Parliamentary Secretary for Information and Culture Rana Muhammad Arshad on Wednesday said the provincial government would give a people-friendly budget for fiscal year 2018-19. “The next budget will be tax-free and as per the aspirations of the masses,” he added. He said a series of meetings between Punjab Finance Minister Dr Ayesha Ghous Pasha and officers of the departments concerned were being held on regular basis and after a thorough discussion the document would be given final touch. He said though the PML-N government was going to present its fifth and last budget of its tenure, it would leave no stone unturned in providing maximum relief to the people in the upcoming budget. Responding to a question, the parliamentary secretary said it was almost difficult to collect taxes because people avoid paying outstanding taxes. “But,” he said, “the government has devised a mechanism to bring maximum number of people into tax net.”
