Judiciary: High court judges take oath

11 additional and fifteen confirmed judges of the LHC take oath.

Eleven additional and 15 confirmed judges of the Lahore High Court (LHC) took oath on Thursday morning at the Punjab Judicial Academy.


LHC Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmad Chaudhry administered the oath to the judges.


The president had issued a notification on Wednesday regarding appointment of 11 new additional judges for a period of one year while 15 additional judges had been confirmed.

The newly appointed judges include six sessions judges and four lawyers. They are Syed Kazam Raza Shahmsi, Abdul Waheed Khan, Syed Iftikhar Hussain, Abdul Sattar Asghar, Chaudhry Muhammad Younis, Mahmood Maqbool Bajwa, Syed Ijaz Hussain Shah (all seven elevated from the post of sessions judge), Aminuddin Khan, Muhammad Amir Bhatti, Altaf Ibrahim Qureshi and Shahzad Ahmad Khan (advocates).

Those who have been confirmed include Justice Nasir Saeed Sheikh ,Justice Sheikh Najamul Hasan, Justice Khwaja Imtiaz Ahmad, Justice Manzoor Ahmad Malik, Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Justice Ijaz ul-Ahsan, Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah, Justice Chaudhry Muhammad Tariq, Justice Sheikh Ahmad Farooq, Justice Chaudhry Shahid Saeed, Justice Rauf Ahmad Shaikh, Justice Ijaz Ahmad, Justice Muhammad Khalid Mehmood Khan, Justice Shahid Hameed Dar, Justice Muhammad Anwarul Haq, Justice Sardar Muhammad Shamim Khan and Justice Mazhar Iqbal Sidhu. These judges were working as ad-hoc judges. The Judicial Commission and the parliamentary committee had approved their confirmation.
