Constituencies conundrum: ECP receives 1286 objections on new delimitations
Says it will start the hearing of the petitions from today
ISLAMABAD:
Election authorities will start hearing objections, received from across the country, on new delimitations today (Wednesday).
Tuesday was the last day for filing of objections. Election authorities have received a total of 1,286 objections. Out of the total, 706 objections were filed from Punjab and ICT, 284 from Sindh, 192 from K-P, and 104 from Balochistan.
In March, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had released the draft of the newly-marked boundaries of constituencies for public scrutiny. It had asked the voters to file objections, if any, against these delimitations by April 3. The ECP is scheduled to dispose of these petitions over the next month. The ECP has fixed for hearing objections on delimitations from districts Batagram and Kasur, besides other cases in the day’s cause lists.
