ISLAMABAD: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the French embassy have launched a joint programme for research mobility. This fellowship programme is intended for highly qualified Pakistani doctoral and postdoctoral scientists and offers them an opportunity to do research. Seventeen Pakistani laureates were awarded HEC and French scholarships for the fellowship by the French Ambassador, at a reception hosted at his residence on Tuesday. They will leave for France early next month to conduct their scientific studies which will last up to nine months, said a press release issued by the French embassy here on Thursday. While congratulating the laureates, the ambassador expressed the pleasure of the French Embassy in Pakistan to co-finance the programme with the HEC. Eight scientists were able to join the best French research laboratories in 2010 and churned out more than six joint publications as a result. News Desk
