Woman killed in Blue Area road crash
Over 40 injured in another accident on Expressway at Koral
ISLAMABAD:
In a tragic road accident, a woman was killed and two other commuters were critically injured on main Jinnah Avenue on Monday morning. Both the car and a motorcycle involved in the accident were badly damaged and the two drivers are still in life-threatening conditions at the hospital.
According to the police Mohsin, the driver of the car lost control of his vehicle due to driving at high speed and hit a motorcyclist before he was successfully able to hit the brake. As a result, Mohsin and Aurangzeb, the motorcyclist, were critically injured and are presently admitted in the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims), while the female passenger named Mishal who was in the car died on the spot.
Police say it was the car driver’s fault, and have impounded the vehicle and retained it at the Kohsar police station. After the crash, the police had to close one lane of the road in front of Islamabad Stock Exchange.
Meanwhile, another 42 people were injured after a bus got into a severe accident on Expressway early on Monday morning. Police said the bus LES-7990 was going from Lahore to Batagram in Khyber-Pakhtukhwa when at around 4:10 am it turned over near Gangaal in the limits of Koral police. According to the police, the accident was caused because the bus driver had gone to sleep while operating the vehicle, after which it hit the road median, at this point the bus driver woke up with a jolt and turned it sharply to his left and hit the safety wall on the other side. He further added that a total of 42 passengers were injured. While most had minor injuries, two of them were in dire conditions.
