India win judo championship
Pakistan finish second ahead of Bangladesh.
ISLAMABAD:
India won the South Asian Judo Championship after bagging 11 gold medals ahead of Pakistan and Bangladesh.
India clinched one silver medal as well. The hosts, who finished second on the podium, could only manage two gold along with four silver and five bronze medals.
Bangladesh claimed the third place in the tournament after bagging a gold, two silver and four bronze medals followed by Nepal who go home with four silver and two bronze medals.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) President Shujaat Ali Rana said that the event was not only a learning experience for players but also a stepping stone for more tournaments in the country.
India, Pakistan, Nepal, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka took part in the championship that was organised by the PJF in collaboration with the South Asian Judo Federation.
