Aqeel Khan wins national lawn tennis championship
Pakistan ace beats Muhammad Abid 6-4, 6-3 in Lahore on Saturday

Pakistan’s tennis ace Aqeel Khan beat Muhammad Abid 6-4, 6-3 on Saturday to claim the title of the Shaharyar Malik National Grass Court Tennis Championship.
Aqeel used his experience to down the opponent in the event organised by the Punjab Lawn Tennis Association.
In the men’s doubles final, Aqeel, with his partner Shahzad Khan beat Mohammad Abid and Usman Rafiq 6-3, 6-3.
Under 18 title was won by Karachi’s Noman Aftab, who beat Saqib Umar 6-1, 6-2 in the final.
Senior 40 plus event was won by Major (r) Adnan and Talha Waheed after the other team was forced out with an injury.
Men’s 50 plus final was won by former David Cupper and Pride of Performance winner Rasheed Malik, who was assisted by his partner Israr Gul.
Men’s 60 plus trophy was won by Khwaja Khurram and Asad Niaz as they beat Ahmed Rao and Rae Zafar 6-4, 7-6 and 10-5.
