Unsafe capital: Two cabbies robbed of cars, valuables

ISLAMABAD: Two cab drivers were robbed of their cars and other valuables after an encounter with deceptive customers who turned on them and then stole their cars, in two separate incidences reported to the capital police.

Habib Ahmed told the Khanna police that three men, posing as customers booked his Toyota car from Kotli and when they reached Margalla Town, they snatched the car as well as his mobile phone and cash at gunpoint. Police have filed a robbery case and launched an investigation but have made no arrests yet.

On the same evening, another cab driver was robbed of his car and valuables near Darwala village in the limits of Koral police station.

Police told The Express Tribune that four youngsters booked Ihtesham Ahmed from Peerwadhai for Koral Chowk. “They had booked him for Rs1,000. However, when they reached Koral, they asked him to go to Darwala village near Gulberg Residencia. When he took them to their requested location, they tied him up, threw him out of the car and escaped with the car, his mobile phone and cash,” a police officer said.

It was around midnight when the victim managed to reach the main road and inform the police.
