Federal Anti-Corruption Court indicted PPP leader, 26 others

Former prime minister Yousuf Raza Gillani and 26 others were formally indicted on Thursday in cases pertaining to misuse of power and corruption at the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) by the Federal Anti-Corruption Court in Karachi, Express News reported.

Among those indicted are Tariq Iqbal Puri, Abdul Karim Dawood Pota, Muhammad Zubair, Adnan Zaman, Younus Rizwani, Javed Anwar, Najamul Haq Mirza Karim Baig, Sohail Mehmood, Farhan Ahmed and Asim Rizwani.

The court has so far declared more than ten suspects absconders in the cases including Muhammad Noman, Farhan Junejo, Mian Muhammad Tariq, Akhtar Mehmood, Mehr Haroon Rasheed, Allahdad and Abid Ullah.

Following the verdict, several suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges upon which the court gave them two weeks to submit their reply. The court also summoned witnesses in the same hearing scheduled for April 11.

The former premier and others were charge-sheeted in more than 70 similar cases while a dozen more cases are in the pipeline for final investigation.
