Interest-free loans amounting to Rs300.7 million have been distributed among 5,447 farmers, informed a spokesperson for the agriculture department on Wednesday. The loans were given using E-credit cards which had already been issued to the farmers, he added. Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited had issued loans worth Rs53.5 million to 579 farmers, National Bank of Pakistan issued loans worth Rs21 million to 354 farmers, Tameer Bank issued loans worth Rs21.1 million to 306 farmers and Akhuwwat Bank issued loans worth Rs214.3 million to 4,208 farmers. The agriculture department has also registered 25,538 farmers who will be issued Kissan cards which would give them access to subsidised agricultural equipment. So far, agricultural teams have collected 31,084 samples of land, 30,598 of which have been sent to the laboratory for analysis, he stated.
