SC seeks record of other cases against ZA Bhutto

Case adjourned till third week of June.

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court sought the records of five other cases registered against Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, while hearing the presidential reference case on Thursday.

An eleven member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the case. The case was subsequently adjourned till the third week of June.

The court also directed the Punjab home secretary and federal interior secretary to produce  a copy of the document under which Bhutto was arrested despite being granted bail by the high court (under Martial Law regulation number 12).

The apex court also directed the Attorney General to present Justice Shafiqur Rehman's report based on which Bhutto was hanged.

The federations counsel Babar Awan refused to set aside the 1979 case verdict.
