Rs3.8 billion disbursed to EOBI, govt apprises top court

The SC had sought a detailed report from the deputy attorney general regarding the payments

ISLAMABAD:
The federal government informed the top court on Thursday that it had doled out Rs3.8 billion for pensions to the Employees Old Age Benefit (EOBI).

Deputy Attorney General of Pakistan Sohail Mahmood submitted a compliance report in the Supreme Court in the suo motu hearing pertaining to EOBI funds.

The report stated that against the claim of EOBI of Rs3,334 million as 50 per cent contribution by the federal government, the finance division has already paid the aforementioned amount during the financial year 2014-15.

EOBI: Increase in pension demanded 


It further added that Rs1,666 million and Rs833 million (total Rs2,499 million) have been paid to EOBI on March 22 this year.

The statement further read that the “NDMA has refunded Rs1,150 million by online transfer to EOBI on March 26.”

"Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal transferred Rs100 million to EOBI on March 7," it added. "The EOBI certified receipt of the said amount on March 13."
