ISLAMABAD: Japan has agreed to extend grant worth $27 million to Pakistan. The loan is being offered for two projects; ‘Economic and Social Development Programme’ ($4.7 million) and second phase of ‘Project for Improvement of Airport’ ($22.5 million). The agreement was signed on Tuesday between Chargé d’Affaires ad interim of the Embassy of Japan Takashi Harada and Economic Affairs Division Secretary Ghazanfar Abbas Jilani. Speaking on the occasion, JICA Pakistan office Chief Representative Yasuhiro Tojo said that this project will support the government of Pakistan to achieve the key objective of the National Aviation Policy 2015, which is “to improve the governance and oversight for the compliance of ICAO standards of aviation safety, security and efficiency” in Pakistan.
