ABBOTABAD:
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has asked people whether those who have looted the national wealth can change the country’s destiny as they claim to, going into the 2018 general elections.

Addressing a party membership campaign at Mansehra in Hazara division, Khan said the future of Pakistan was tied with the upcoming elections and “it is only the people who will decide the leadership to take them towards development”.

“The PTI will emerge victorious in the upcoming elections and change the life of every Pakistani,” said Khan, adding that the “revolutionary developments made in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P)” would be made in the whole country. He said his government would make exemplary changes in all public departments, especially health, education, and police.

“We will introduce a judicial system where cases will be decided within a year instead of being dragged for decades,” said the PTI chairman. He also expressed his plans of revamping the education system, creating job opportunities and providing free healthcare facilities. He also shared his plans of transforming Pakistan into a welfare state which would be a model for the rest of the world.

Shifting focus to his political contemporaries, Khan panned Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif for “lack of development” in the province.

“Shehbaz had more than Rs600 billion in budget whereas we only have Rs125 billion at our disposal but the developments made in K-P are incomparable to any other province,” he said while also criticising Pakistan Peoples Party for “not bringing any significant changes” in Sindh.

“With leaders like Nawaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari and Fazlur Rehman, there is no need for an external threat to the country,” said Khan.

He also criticised Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi for “aiding in the escape of former finance minister Ishaq Dar”.

“Our PM feels honoured in working under the leadership of a person who looted more than Rs300 billion from the public money and was disqualified for his wrongdoings,” he said, adding that these activities were ample proof of the current political setup being nothing less than a mafia running the country for their own interests.

Given the magnitude of his visit, the local government had made stringent efforts to provide foolproof security to the PTI chief, which included barricading the stage from all sides. However, Khan asked for the barriers to be removed so the workers could come closer to the stage.

The PTI chairman was accompanied by K-P Chief Minister Pervez Khattak along with provincial ministers Mushtaq Ahmed Ghani and Qalandar Khan Lodhi, MNA Dr Azhar Khan Jadoon and divisional president Zar Gul Khan.
