Oil refinery to be set up in Kohat

In a bid to achieve self-sufficiency in the energy sector, the provincial government is in the process of establishing a refinery in Kohat.
The refinery, which will have a capacity to process 200,000 barrels oil per day (bpd), would cost around Rs35 billion. “The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Oil and Gas Company Limited and a Russian consortium of investors have recently reached an agreement to set- up the refinery,” official sources told APP.
As per the agreement, the company would set- up the facility in Kohat district while the provincial government will have a 10 per cent share in it once it starts operations.
The provincial government, they said, was encouraging foreign investors by providing them with incentives and facilities in diverse fields, besides ensuring good-governance and transparency.
