The case registered with Civil Lines police station may be declared bogus due to lack of evidence, the mystery of the DC’s hands tied at the back at the time of death has also been resolved. The doctors conducting postmortem revealed that such a death was the first of its kind in their experience, on which, in the presence of senior police officials, mocks of committing suicide with tied hands were conducted after which the doctors and police officers confirmed that such things could happen.
The mocks were conducted only to ascertain the possibility of aforementioned way of committing suicide, but when it happened during the mocks, the police officials and doctors claimed resolving the mystery of what they called suicide.
Police said due to suicide the cervical vertebrae of DC Tipu was broken and there were 11 injuries in the neck area. The sources further revealed that Sohail Ahmed Tipu was suffering from depression for past two weeks and he had also requested the authorities for relieving him from the post of deputy commissioner Gujranwala, but the request was not entertained. Before the incident, Tipu talked to his wife around 9:30pm and was up the whole night of the incident. Around 3:00am in the morning he woke up his parents and told them that there was a goat or something on the roof, noise was coming, if further commotion comes do not get worried. Sources have said that Tipu prepared his parents so that if during the suicide he utters some kind of noises, his parents won’t get disturbed.
A few months back Gurjranwala commissioner had called a panel of psychiatrists who examined Tipu for few hours. The doctors said he was a patient of depression and needed medication. It is also learnt that Tipu was not under any pressure from his family, however, he might have got dejected due to scolding from some high official in the department. The case is purely of a suicide however, murder case has been registered by the department to avail financial benefit which in case of suicide was not applicable.
When contacted, on-duty official at Civil Lines police station said suicide has been proved in the postmortem report, the report is not available yet, however, a case of murder has been registered.
