Goods transporters threaten protest
Say industry was already under burden of heavy taxes

Minni Goods Transport Association once again has vowed to stage a protest against what they called “injustices” committed with them by the government.
In this regard, All Pakistan Minni Mazda Goods Association held a meeting at Gulberg. It was attended by the associations Central President Sher Ali Chaudhry, Chairman Chaduhry Jameel, Secretary General Tanveer Ahmad, and other leaders including Amjad Sherazi, Javed Bhattit and others were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the leaders of the association said the industry of the goods transport was already paying heavy taxes. A major portion of the petroleum products was consumed by this industry. The government had already levies such huge taxes on the products. Despite this, another burden of taxes has been levied on the goods transporters. He said that it was unfair that the public transport were given relief while the burden of new taxes was being put on Mazdas which was unfair though both were commercial vehicles.
The leaders further said they were busy in consultations with the goods transporters throughout the country to finalise the earliest date of protest and sit-in. Describing their strategy, they said they would close down entry and exit points of the city. The government and the departments will be responsible for resultant nuisance caused to public as they had highlighted their vows at different forums, they added.
